Northwind Theological Seminary is an ecumenical, online seminary serving many denominations. Biblically-based with theological roots in the Wesleyan tradition, we have a strong emphasis on Contextual Ministry, Spiritual Formation, and Discipleship.
The Wesleyan tradition values theological exploration within a supportive community, drawing on diverse perspectives to deepen individual understanding.
John Wesley lived a life marked by both spiritual devotion and personal struggles. Born into a devout Anglican family, Wesley's upbringing instilled a deep sense of faith and discipline. However, his journey to spiritual awakening was not without its challenges.
Wesley experienced a period of spiritual searching during which he wrestled with questions about predestination and the nature of salvation. His interactions with the Moravians, a pietist congregation, were crucial but transformative in shaping his theological understanding. It was through the shared beliefs and community of the Moravians that Wesley found his theological path, embracing the doctrine of salvation by faith and the transformative power of God's grace.
We serve many denominations because Wesley looked outside his faith tradition to find his theological path. In a supportive theological community, we can learn from one another, and as we learn from one another, we, like Wesley, can gain a deeper understanding of our individual theological paths.
Very informative! Thanks.
